Sometimes life can drown us. I felt that way a few times and specifically last week. People hurt, people get sick, and expectations fail. And if left to ourselves, we can really be overwhelmed by the uncertain waters that surround us. If left to ourselves…
But God has made promises. He knew the waters would rise. He knew floods of hurts, disappointments, and failures would try to leave us shipwrecked, so He made a way.
There is a promise in Genesis that is as true today as it was when He first made it. His promise to Noah, HE SAID, was for all mankind.
‘The waters will recede… Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy your life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the lasting promise I have established between Me and all life on Earth.’ Genesis 9:11,17
When I read this last week, He whispered this to my heart:
‘My girl, this is for you. Now. This promise is symbolic and literal and I need you to get this. You will face much, and sometimes all at once, but I will NEVER let the flood overwhelm you, destroy you, or leave you without a life saver. I am your Life Saver always. The waters will recede and there will ALWAYS be a rainbow. It may not come right away or when you expect it, but There. Will. Always. Be. A Rainbow. However, I need you to trust me in the downpour…’
Ok Lord. Ok.
It was as clear as day.
Friend, the story of Noah is an old one and a familiar one. But the promise is true today. He will make the waters recede. No matter what your ‘waters’ are, please trust the One who controls them. He is able.
So very much in this with you,
BTW, can you even believe how beautiful this picture is?
